'Bleaching' my eyebrows

During the Elizabethan Era, it was very popular for women to have no eyebrows. In these two images above, you can see that Queen Elizabeth had barley any eyebrows. There are many trends now, especially during catwalk looks where models' eyebrows have been bleached so they are no longer visible, this is all inspired by Queen Elizabeth and the Elizabethans.

Some modern examples of bleached eyebrows.

The look that was most favoured by the Elizabethans was no eyebrows and a large round forehead, they would often pluck their hairline back to create a bigger forehead and they would often also pluck their eyebrows until they were barley visible or they just had naturally light blonde eyebrows.

I decided to give it a go as practise on myself to see what it would look like. I decided not to bleach my eyebrows so I gave it a go of concealing over them.

I started off with my eyebrows before putting any concealer over them.

I used this concealer which is one of my all time favourites. I thought this specific concealer would be the best for this 'bleaching' of my eyebrows as it has a thick, creamy texture to it and I thought it would work well to completely cover my eyebrows. I used a flat concealer brush to apply the product. The concealer comes in two shades, a slightly pink one on the left and a more yellow toned one on the right, for this covering of my brows, I am going to be using the more yellow toned one on the right.

I started off by brushing the product through my eyebrows starting at the front and working through to the back. I continued until all my eyebrows were completely covered.

And this was the final result of my eyebrow 'bleaching'. The eyebrows didn't cover as well as I planned but I think that's because they are quite dark and thick, I think if I wanted to cover them better, I would use maybe the Illamasqua Skin Base in shade 01 I have in my kit as this is pure white and would cover them perfectly and I could then go over them in a colour similar to the model's skin tone. I am happy I tried this out though and experimented with different concealers because now I know I need to use a thicker or whiter concealer next time.
